REVIEW: L’Oreal Mat Magique Powder

by - 2:14 AM

It was just last week when I first saw this product at SM City Baguio’s Department Store. I’ve been saving for this (poor me being a student with low and limited budget). But one day, my Mom surprised me in the morning and told me “Tey, I have something for you. Don’t save na.”

I was so excited that I immediately tried the powder after taking a shower. Having this is actually a blessing for me because I’m one of those people blessed with an oily and shiny face.

I chose the N2;  Nude Vanilla tone which is yellowish and a little bit darker than N1. The tone fits me well since I'm not very fair skinned. My tone is much of an average yellowish white.

ABOUT L'Oreal Mat Magique Powder:

L’Oreal Mat Magique All-in-One Matte Transforming Powder claims that it is SPF 34 PA +++ and 12H shine resistant
“The science behind the magic? Thirty percent of the Mat Magique formula is made of volcanic perlite, a natural, non-irritating sebum absorber. This is the highest concentration of this shine-busting ingredient in a makeup product to date.”

Let us see if their claim is true, shall we?

THE 12H LONGEVITY TEST

LEFT: WITHOUT POWDER
RIGHT: WITH POWDER
It is visible that my forehead is darker than the rest of my face.
After putting on the powder, my skin tone got even, my eye bags got lighter, and my face is less shiny
LEFT: After 30 minutes
RIGHT: After 4 hours
After putting on powder, I applied a little bit of makeup to past time. The saleslady was right! My skin absorbed the powder and it looks more natural on my face after 30 minutes, than the freshly applied powder on my face which makes me look pallid.
After 4 hours, which is after attending my classes, the powder did not fade yet inspite of the hot weather.
LEFT: After 8 hours
RIGHT: After 12 hours
After 8 hours, my nose and my T-zone on my forehead is shining already! Oh no!
After 12 hours, the powder did not completely fade, but my face is not that too oily, I'm back to my original-bare-faced skin tone, and my darker forehead is visible again.

THE VERDICT

Pros:

  • It blends in the skin well
  • It makes my skin tone stay even for 8 hours.
  • My nose doesn't gets irritated since it's matte and the powder is not loose.
  • It doesn't cake in your skin when you apply moisturizer or primer under it. It just blends with your skin smoothly
  • It comes in a slim light-weight compact. The mirror is also big for a compact.
  • It costs P499 only and gives excellent quality!
  • As a person who has oily face, I'm shine-free for 5 hours
  • SPF 34! For protection under the sun.
Cons:

  • The powder is not shine resistant for 12 hours (in my case. We have different skin types. Maybe it's shine resistant to other skin types

Will I buy this product again?

Of course I will. It's actually one of the best products I have tried. It is also one of the cheapest products I found which gives excellent quality.

Would you recommend this product?

For people who have oily skin like me, I would love to recommend this product.

On a scale of 1-10, how would rate this product?

It's a 9/10. The results are really promising, except for the claim that it makes me shine-free for 12 hours. But so far, this is the powder brand that stays the longest and it also blends out well which gives me a natural look.

P.S.
I started this blog when I was 13 and I always wanted to do makeup tutorials and reviews. I was just too scared before that people might judge me since I was so young and I barely know anything about makeup. Now I’m 17 (turning 18 in 8 days!), I have now conquered my fears in writing about a makeup post. This is my FIRST EVER MAKEUP POST. I hope you enjoyed reading and learning as much as I enjoyed blogging about this.

  2. I've read blogs an d saw vlog reviews about the powder dear. It's true that it does quite good but it doesn't last long for 12 hours. It's also too pricey for a face powder. Great review btw dear!!

  3. Sounds like a good product but I can't afford to spend a few more bucks for a powder. I'm good with what I currently have! Hehe!
